Outrage after 'baby yoga' video shows mother swinging her child around her head by the arms and ankles... but is it genuine?

A video has sparked outrage among parents after it appears to show a woman subjecting a baby to 'swinging yoga' exercises where she flings it around by its arms and ankles.

'Baby Yoga with Lena Fokina' was originally posted on YouTube. The video was removed because it breached the website's 'shocking and disgusting' content policy.

But it has spread rapidly after horrified parents tried to find out if the video was authentic.

During the footage, the baby can be seen moving around at the beginning and end of the 'yoga' workout as the woman swings it around her shoulders and head while gripping its hand or foot.

Speculation on the internet hints at the video being a fake, with a baby doll substituted for the real baby during the actual yoga scenes.

But more videos have since emerged allegedly showing more 'swinging yoga' clips.

One person commented on the YouTube video: 'I can't even watch this. This woman should be arrested or educated... that child is going to have joint problems later in life, and it is a good way to give it shaken baby syndrome and also it could get a dislocated arm.'

Genuine? The footage appears to have been shot in Russia or the Ukraine

Another adds: 'Maybe you could play with a two or three year old like that, but this Baby is mere MONTHS old and it's nervous system is simply not developed enough to handle this ROUGH treatment!'

If it was authentic, a baby of the age in the video would likely suffer serious injuries and could even suffer damage from shaken baby syndrome.

It was filmed in front of a colourful rockery area and a pink house, but it is unclear where exactly it was taken.

An error message on the original URL leads to a Russian '404 error' page, but it could also have been recorded in the Ukraine.

Horrific: If it was genuine, the baby would be likely to have suffered serious injuries to its fragile joints
