Unique Fall Wedding Decor

October has always been one of my absolute favorite times of the year. Crisp air, fall colors, Halloween decorating, cute scarves, pumpkin spice lattes...what's not to love?!



One of my very very favorite things to do, however, is Pumpkin Carving! So many options and fun designs to utilize- even as decor for your wedding!



I'm not talking about our friend the Jack O' Lantern (although if you're going for a spooky theme, then awesome! Go for it!), I'm referring to this beautiful doily stenciled pumpkin I stumbled across on Better Homes and Gardens.

I love this image for so many reasons! First, I think it's adorable that the Flower Girl is helping the bride ger ready, so sweet!



I love this because this flower girl dress, tutu and leotard combination is just so stinkin' cute!



I love it because you can see how much the Flower Girl is concentrating on getting the shoe on just so.



It's true a picture is worth a thousand words. I think everyone sees something different in an image. And that is what makes photography at your wedding so worth it!

Brad Pitt wants more comedy roles

Angelina Jolie's partner Brad Pitt wants to act more comedy movies.

He said, "I do like a comedy. There's some great comedy coming out in America. I'm thinking of Zach Galifianakis, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride."

"But the point is just to keep messing it up. I figure I've only got some more of these films I get to do, and I wanna make sure they have some worth to me."

"First and foremost, it's a directors' medium. It's all about the storytelling, it's the most important thing to me. I look for directors with a strong point of view, then I feel free--it frees me to go and try anything because I know I'm in proper hands that are not going to abuse me."

"I can try many things until I find that line, that vein, and start following it."

Corset Back Wedding Gown

I think that having a corset back on your wedding gown is gorgeous! I don't play favorites, buttons are beautiful too!



But when you have a corset back, there are 32 different ways to lace a corset and they all work.... your dress sales person will do it one way, your alterations seamstress will tell you another, the designer of the dress may have had another in mind... and your planner, well, she does it every weekend. And knows some great ways to lace you up!



These are my hands lacing up my sister's wedding dress. You want it to look pretty, but at the same time, a corset is function it needs to hold up the dress (amongst other things) in the gown for the night. And it will losen with movement, humidity, sitting, standing, breathing, so if it needs to be tightened once throughout the wedding evening that's okay.



My point of all this, is to trust your planner when she's lacing you up, and also budget some extra time (usually 15 minutes) to make sure you are in, it's straight and it looks pretty.

Taking care of You

Eat Right.

Okay, so I am fairly selfless, I admit it, I put everyone in front of me. My family (pictured above is our 19 month old Gabriel - he is getting the last of the milk out of his cereal bowl- the kid cracks me up). But I digress, I love my clients, my family, my friends... and I have had a really hard time saying no.



Saying no to projects.



Saying no to my husband.



Saying no to my friends.



Not volunteering for that church committee.



It's hard, no is the hardest 2 letter word out there... I want people to be pleased. I want people to be happy. I don't want to say no.



Just like you may not like an idea that one of your friends or family members has for your wedding, you don't want to break their heart if they feel a pink bedazzled underwear cover is perfect for you and you hate the idea (I don't even know what an underwear cover is...if you love them, I am sorry...)

Getting to my point... promise.



There are times you have to just check yourself out, say no to everyone and have some YOU time. Read a book, take a bath, light some candles, turn your phone off, open that bottle of wine, turn on a movie you love. Just take some you time. Life is stressful enough, add to it, planning a big event - and you leave yourself open to get sick. Trust me I've done it.

Remember what it was like when you had no cares in the world (if you can even remember back that far) When the best part of your day was eating that after school snack and your mom wasn't there to count how many cookies you were eating.

According to Iranian cinema producer Ali Sartipi, Angelina Jolie will travel to Iran by the end of the Iranian calendar year (ends on March 20, 2012) to make a movie.

He said, "If Jolie agrees and the Iranian Culture Ministry approves her visit to the country, she will make a film there."

Beauty salon refuse to confirm Angelina Jolie's presence

According to the report from The Sun, a beauticians at Sirisha’s Health and Beauty in St Margarets has denied that Angelina Jolie and her children visited their beauty salon to have her eldest daughter's ears pierced at Sirisha’s Health and Beauty.

The employee said: "We have a strict confidentiality policy for all our customers - it doesn’t matter if they are famous or not. If I had work done, say on my face, I wouldn’t want everybody outside to know about it.”

The beautician added: “Everything that was printed in the article was completely untrue.

Family comes first for Brad Pitt. Brad is such a good father and lucky Angelina to have such man.

He said: "We're a normal family, a mother and father, and the kids get unruly! The kids are fantastic and say the funniest things I've ever heard.

"But the most important thing for us is to make sure we carve out time for them, that we get group time and one on one time because it's our responsibility to show them around and help shape them. Unity Ceremony Alternatives

Lately, brides have been asking for other ways to incorporate the unity ceremony into their wedding.



They think that the unity candle and sand ceremonies are a bit overdone. Here are a couple of my favorite ideas for those of you struggling.



The wine and love letter ceremony. Here, the bride and groom will write each other love letters. During the ceremony, they will place these love letters, other mementos of their relationship, a bottle of wine, and two glasses into a custom box of their choosing. The couple will seal the box together during the ceremony as well. Then on their 25th anniversary they will open the box unless they come across a rough spot in their relationship and need to be reminded of why they united themselves in the first place.

The Oaks

The knot ceremony. The bride and groom will braid some sort of cord during the ceremony to symbolize them coming together. Many couples have also tied their hands together with ribbon or something else meaningful to them. I like the braid, because it makes for a nice keepsake after the ceremony.

Again, personalize it to you! If you can think of some object that is extremely significant in your relationship, you can probably incorporate it as a unity ceremony!

Personalizing Your Bouquet

We have had several brides recently who personalized their bouquets with family heirlooms. I thought that this was such a sweet idea, another great way to personalize every detail about your wedding!

One of our clients had lockets attached to her bouquet that had pictures of her Grandparents and Great-Grandparents who had passed. This way they were with her every step of the way!

Another way you can personalize your bouquet is to tie a handkerchief to it from a grandfather who passed away or even tie a family bible to it. You could incorporate many different heirlooms into your bouquet, it will mean so much more to you and your family!

Personalizing Your Ceremony

As you know, your wedding is supposed to be all about the bride and groom. Knowing this, it would be a great idea to try and put your personality into each part of the wedding, including the ceremony.

You can write your own vows, pick unique readings and bible verses, even pick family members and friends for singers (just don't ask me to sing, I'll scare everyone away)! You can even incorporate a family tradition into it, such as a saying or poem. The ceremony, just like any other part of the wedding, should be personal to you.


The ceremony is also a great way to tie in your culture, whether you are Irish, Polish, Hispanic or whatever, you can use your background to add another personal touch with cultural proverbs, songs, and traditions!

Angelina Jolie took her older daughters, Zahara and Shiloh to have their ears pierced at a small salon in London.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "The eldest girl picked out some pretty 18-carat gold studs ad gave them to her mum."

"The piercing gun was a bit too painful for her and she screamed then burst into tears. She was saying it felt like a stapler. So her little sister changed her mind about having hers done . But they all left with big smiles on their faces. Angelina bought them another little gift to make sure they both felt special."

Brad Pitt sold photos of his twins babies to Hello! and People for a reported £8.75m ($14m) and those money were donated to their charity organisation the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

Brad didn't simply sell the twins photos, to protect from intrusive photographers, saying "I know some of these guys who are in that 'stalkerazzi' world, and you really have to separate them from the paparazzi in our industry. That's another breed."

"We figured, 'Let's cut it off in the beginning,' and instead of that money going to people I do not respect, we would make some good out of it."

Lately, I have noticed that a lot of couples are deciding to do late night snacks for their guests who stay to party! I really love this detail and it makes for a memorable night for your guests.


A couple of great late night treats that I adore are McDonald's Cheeseburgers and maybe some fries, Krispy Kreme donuts, and Chick-Fil-A! Yummmmmm! Your late night treat should probably be something fast foodie and filling. By this time of night your guests are probably a little bit tipsy and just want something easy and quick to satisfy their craving.

A Week of Unique Treats Finale

When it comes to your wedding favors, I definitely like the idea of something edible. This way, you know your guests can and will use it eat it. This being said, we love the idea of being creative about it and not just do the traditional chocolate gift, even though chocolate is amazing.

Honey!! I really really loved this, and the bride also placed mini photos from their engagement session on each table, you can see it in the top left photo. I think that detail and the tags added such a nice personal touch.
